A wet hen & her soggy chicks!

It's been an emotional time of late. But there's also been so many positive things happen!

Me and Mark were invited to the UKATA AGM in Nottingham and I presented my story there, UKATA are responsible for asbestos training across the UK and we met some lovely people, including the very entertaining Kris Akabusi! He called Mark 'honey' and me 'geezer' haha I should have wore more lippy maybe (and Mark a bit less?! šŸ˜‚)

My beautiful sister in law Nicola has had a raffle and cake sale to raise money for Meso UK. She and the girls from her salon raised over Ā£1200 which will be doubled to Ā£2000 by Barclays thanks to her fiancĆ© Gary, this will donate much needed funds for an amazing charity.

As well as this I've recorded interviews for conferences in France for the international mesothelioma group and for NHS England too, I've also been on Radio 5 live and even Radio 2 with Jeremy Vine! All in the name of spreading the word. My meso friends have also been getting the word out there on the BBC and on Sky News. Cheesy as it is it feels like a revolution! Really getting attention for the disease and for the risks still posed by asbestos in the UK. I'll be sporting a sandwich board on Downing Street at this rate!

We have had Hen dos 2 & 3 for Nicola too, and I can firmly say Hen do 3 was eventful! We went to a rock/alt festival and true to the British weather, it rained from start to finish! We were soaked through! It didn't dampen spirits though and a good time was had by all! Even the teenagers can be spotted smiling! šŸ˜‚ We sported lots of pink attire so you definitely couldn't miss us in the crowd!

Finally, on the Meso front: good news! My most recent scan shows shrinkage in the pleura/lung spaces, no evidence of spread and controlled disease in the abdomen. The only thing is the fluid has built up again in my abdomen and I'm walking around like I'm pregnant again! It's great for resting your cup of tea on but it's quite uncomfortable. So the plan is to drain it again and see what it does, it may mean I need a permanent drain in to keep draining the fluid, I'm not keen on this just yet but will see how we go. Treatment will carry on after that and we will see what the next scan shows.
