Private? Aye!

Lots of things have happened in the Bone house, Lily had her 11th birthday, only 2 years before she grows horns (and turns into a full blown teenager!), we had a pamper party with her aunty Nic, and all things girly and pink ensued! We also had Nana Joan to visit, she had snuggles off Alfie and managed to cause no bother (she's definitely slipping!). Livvy dissected a few sheep's organs at college, she's just like her Mam straight in there she was! (Although I've never done it in a powder blue two piece!).

We went to the Star Inn, a Michelin ⭐️ restaurant at Harome. This was for our annual Bone Family Christmas Present. Rather than buying each other tat for Christmas we pool our money and have a treat in the year. This was it and it did not disappoint. After that me and Jane went to Manchester to the annual Meso UK Ladies Lunch. We travelled down the night before to do a bit is shopping and gastronomy (basically we shopped and ate a lot!). The ladies lunch was a great day, even though it might not have been as we had stayed in the wrong hotel! A quick trip across town and we made it in time (phew!) My presentation went well, and I even received a standing ovation, from the amazing women in the room, it was truly an honour!

All that packed in, I was ready to start treatment today (Tuesday 14th March). I am having private treatment and it's been very strange but lovely I can say that. The nurses come out to the house to take bloods the day before (picked up by a courier and taken to the lab). The consultant looks at all the info and prescribes the drug on an electronic prescription, that goes to the pharmacy then the nurse brings the drugs the following day. The nurse was lovely on both days, she said she's been to people who just sit there silent (no danger of that here love!).

On treatment day she comes and sets up (the whole visit is about 4 hours), she puts in a cannula and off starts the drugs, 4 pre-med drugs; an anti sickness, a painkiller, a steroid and a an antihistamine. These are to counter act the effects of the treatment drugs. The treatment drugs are then given, all washes down with a big bag of saline. The drugs used are; a chemotherapy drug and an immunotherapy drug, this one is a Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor, which is a primary responder to vascular endothelial growth factor signal, and thereby regulates endothelial migration and proliferation. A right mouthful right? Basically stops the cancer growing new blood vessels thus stopping it from receiving all the things it needs to survive. Pretty cool isn't it?

Treatment will run in 3 week cycles. Having bloods on days 1 and 7 and treatment on days 2 and 8. I'll have CT scans every 6-9 weeks (or 2-3 cycles), consultations on days 8 and 21, and White blood cell boosters on day 3!!!! and I don't know wether I'm at the park or the pictures! Thank the lord for a calendar app!

So hopefully treatment will be kind, I'll keep you posted :-)
