Swapping spa for a PCR!

So I’m still continuing to feel good after the first cycle of chemo. I had to get the owld kidneys checked on Monday to make sure they’re working ok and that the chemo dose I’m having is the right one. This meant another busman‘s holiday!! A whole day of wandering the corridors of James Cook University Hospital, I mean what’s not to love!! (Note the sarcastic undertones 😂).

Anyway yesterday was going to be a good day, my friend Karen was taking me for a much needed spa day at Rockliffe Hall (not too shabby!). Unfortunately the night before Livvy and Maddy tested positive for COVID on their lateral flow tests (They test twice a week routinely). They are both absolutely fine but this meant one thing. We all needed to go for an official test. So, I’d be swapping that Spa for a PCR!! (swab). Wounded! But needs must, safety first, yada yada yada.

So we come home after the mass testing and they scuttled off to their rooms texting me to say that they would stay out of the way of me as to not infect me. Well, that’s resulted in me running up and down the stairs with food, drinks etc, knocking on the door and leaving said items outside the door to be taken in by the unclean. Think Upstairs Downstairs crosses Prisoner cell block H (Ah, 🎶 he used to give me roses, I wish he could again 🎶 - remember the theme tune? No, just me then).

Last night we got the official results, both kids positive, myself and Mark negative. So they are to stay in their rooms as much as possible, much like 2 modern day rapunzels!! And I will continue my role as servant/jailer!! 😂

In other news. My friend from work Kayleigh is going to cycle 100 miles in October for Mesothelioma UK. This charity provides support to people diagnosed with Meso and also provides funds for much needed research into the disease. I attended a webinar on zoom whereby PhD students shared their work into such research, a lot of it funded by this charity. Kayleigh is an absolute star for doing this, it will raise some much needed money for the charity to be able to continue its work, thank you for any support you are able to offer ❤️
